World Supercross take over Villa Park for a UK spectacular If World Supercross wanted to bring its own particular brand of glitz and glamour to the UK, then it did so in quite spectacular fashion at the start of July. And Bike Middle East was there to soak in the atmosphere. The first round of the 2023 season started at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, with an impressive show of riders and talent. After first filling the stadium with tonnes of dirt and converting the famous football stadium into full supercross track, the track designers came up with a layout that featured massive air, hugely technical sections and big corner speeds. The event featured two main events, SX2 and WSX. Each event featured a group of top riders competing for pole and rank, as they made their way to a final three-race shootout. Best scores across the three races…
The Cathedral of speed delivers another exciting race for MotoGP fans this year with head-to-head battles, crashes and unexpected drama, what a way to enter a month-long summer break before the next race early August at Silverstone. Brad Binder stole the holeshot on his Redbull KTM factory race machine moving from P5 to P1 by the apex of turn 1. He led the race for the first lap followed closely by Francesco Bagnaia and Aleix Espargaro respectively. Despite the poor practice and loosing the holeshot, Francesco Bagnaia took lead from Binder by lap 24 and showed the rest of the Dutch GP roster who is on top of the Assen food chain on his Ducati Lenovo machine dancing through the 18 turn track to add another victory. Battle for 2nd place was blistering both on track and for spectators as Binder and Bezzecchi were neck and neck throughout the race,…
Fast, fun and fantastic, the Fantic 450 makes its mark. I remember saying in my mind “Fantic is just how Italians say Yamaha”, with a smirk on my face moments before hitting the starter button… I had to wipe the smirk off my face as soon as that engine barked into life. And I do mean barked in a literal sense here. Although the bikes engine and frame are sourced from Yamaha’s highly praised and fully redesigned 2023 YZ450F and as well as its trick electronics package with launch control and traction control, Fantic’s own engine mapping, different plastics, different switchgear, mark it as a different beast to the Yamaha. It also feels like it has a more rounded saddle and definitely has a deep barky note courtesy of Arrow exhaust fitted as standard. Throwing a boot over the Fantic XXF 450 makes several things clear. The rider triangle feel…

The GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3 team will have to wait a little longer for the return of the flying Spaniard Pol Espargaro’s hoped for return to the MotoGP fray at this coming weekend’s Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley will now be delayed. The Spaniard has been rehabbing since his fall during the practice and quali program for the 2023 season-opener at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal in March. The main issue has been a back injury, which still has a small edema issue around the vertebrae that needs treatment. The timing is not good for both the rider and team as the date in Italy is immediately followed by a journey to Sachsenring for the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland and then the TT Circuit Assen for the Motul TT Assen for a MotoGP ‘triple header’ before the summer break. “I was really looking forward to getting back on…

Michael Dunlop smashes the lap record around the Isle of Man Course during practice Riding his Hawk Racing Honda Fireblade Superbike, Michael Dunlop unofficially blew away the current lap record with a 135.531 mph average speed over the 37.75-mile road course. However, as the record was broken during a practice session, the official existing lap record of 135.452 mph set by Peter Hickman in the 2018 Senior race still stands. Up to that point Hickman on his FHO Racing BMW had been the man to beat, but Dunlop set out a strong marker Friday afternoon with a 134.270 mph lap from a standing start. As the clock ticked down, he pushed deeper and cracked the 135.531 mph average on a flying lap. Hickman had been delayed during the Superbike/Superstock practice session, after breaking down in the previous Supersport/Supertwins practice session. With this sort of pace being set during practice, all…
