Pirelli and Yamaha have confirmed their support for the seventh edition of the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp, a unique training school, organised by the manufacturer and the VR46 Riders Academy of Valentino Rossi. Participants at the event, which will be held at the end of May at the Autodromo di Modena, will use YZF-R3s equipped with Pirelli DIABLO Supercorsa tyres. The event will involve five young talents selected by Yamaha from the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship. This class runs within the Pirelli-sponsored MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship Series. After four years of planning and construction, Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has opened the KTM Motohall in Mattighofen, the hometown of Europe’s biggest motorcycle brand. 400 guests attended the opening, including the regional governor Thomas Stelzer, the Mattighofen town mayor, and prominent Austrian industry leaders. The “RC16” area of the spectacular building was completely filled with guests, including many who have closely followed the activities of KTM. The very first KTM series motorcycle was produced back in 1953, close to where today’s new KTM Motohall is located. Guests of honor from the world of motorsport included motocross legend Heinz Kinigadner, Dakar winners Matthias Walkner and Sam Sunderland, and MotoGP factory riders Pol Espargaro and Miguel Oliveira were present. Holland’s Dirttrack Lelystad hosted the first ever Indian Motorcycle European Championship during the amazingly popular annual Hells Race meeting at the beginning of May. Over 150 riders raced classes including Hooligan, Vintage, Pro, Amateur, Newbie and Minibike. The program was action packed with some fantastic racing around Holland’s premier short track venue. In the Hooligan class the racing was fast and tough on the soft light shale surface. The big bikes were hard to handle on the tight and deep short track, and rain during the afternoon made the racing really tricky. It was Gary Birtwistle who skillfully lead the final from beginning to end. After a poor start Max Hunt managed to race to a very well deserved second place. MotoE’s bike manufacturer Energica has been busy building new Corsa units for the first-ever edition of the all-electric world series on July 7th at the Sachsenring in Germany, following the devastating fire in Jerez in March which destroyed most of the bikes. “On the day after the fire in Jerez, we knew a special effort had to be made” says Energica’s CEO Livia Cevolini. “There was no time to waste, despite witnessing what happened – which was surely something very hard to deal with. German tyre brand Metzeler has been announced as the technical partner for the 2019 World Enduro Super Series (WESS), the multi-discipline motorcycle championship for professionals and amateurs. Established in 2018 with the aim of combining various competitive enduro formats under one title, the championship is now entering its second year, after a successful debut season. WESS combines many of the world’s most well-established and supported enduro events and annually crowns the ultimate enduro champion. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team’s Cooper Webb secured his first-career 450SX Championship at the season finale, giving the brand its fourth premier class title aboard the 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION. His teammate, Marvin Musquin, finished second on the night and third in the overall championship. Webb, a two-time Western Regional 250SX Champion, joined the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team at the end of 2018. Ten RSV4 Xs, a bike built by Aprilia to celebrate the anniversary of the start of the RSV project have all been sold in just a couple of hours. Developed by Aprilia Racing, the RSV4 X was designed with the sole aim of offering maximum performance on track. Producing 225 hp and 165 kg, it is one of the lightest and most powerful bikes ever made, the first in the world to feature a gearbox with neutral below first gear and Brembo GP4-MS calipers.
