Off-road riders and race fans will be please to know that World Cup cross country rallying returns to the UAE next month with the Dubai International Baja. The race, which will take place in the Al Qudra desert from 7thto 9th March, has been organised under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, and will feature a mix of cars, buggies and bikes across the gruelling terrain. A number of riders and drivers are flying in from overseas to compete in the race , which forms the opening round of this year’s FIM Bajas World Cup for bikes and quads,and the second round of the 2019 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Bajas for cars and buggies. Ducati’s Borgo Panigale plant has started production of the new Diavel 1260. The first bike, which was unveiled at the EICMA show in 2018, rolled off the line on 21st January. As is the tradition, the first bike was greeted by the entire factory with a toast and an official speech by CEO Claudio Domenicali and Production Manager Silvano Fini. The Diavel 1260 is the second generation of the unusual bike, which has a new design and higher performance. Equipped with the Testastretta DVT 1262 engine, it also has an upgraded chassis set-up, including Bosch Cornering ABS. The Diavel 1260 is also available as a sportier S version featuring Öhlins suspension, dedicated wheels, an even higher-performing braking system and Ducati Quick Shift.The Diavel 1260 is available in Sandstone Grey, while the Diavel 1260 S goes on sale in Sandstone Grey or Thrilling Black & Dark Stealth. The Italy-based Yamaha Factory Racing team travelled to Madrid not only to present a new livery, but also to celebrate its strong partnership with telecommunications giant Telefónica Spain. The two companies signed a five-year partnership agreement in the premier class of road racing in 2014, underlined with Movistar becoming the team‘s title sponsor. In the past four years, Yamaha and Telefónica Spain‘s shared values and passion for innovation laid the groundwork for success, resulting in a MotoGP Triple Crown in 2015 and the MotoGP Team‘s Title in 2016. However, the focus of the 2018 Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team Presentation event was set on celebrating the start of the new season, rather than commemorating past achievements.
